Story Seekers (3 yrs – K)

Story Seekers (3 yrs - K)

3-year-olds through Kindergarten

Story Seekers is our Sunday morning program for children 3 years old through kindergarten. The classes are led by a group of adults who not only provide a variety of activities related to the Bible story for the day but also create a welcoming and safe environment for the children. In Story Seekers your child will learn Bible stories, make crafts, sing songs, and work on activity pages that are related to the lesson. To keep you informed of what your child is learning, I send out a monthly parent email. It includes the Bible point, Bible verse and Bible stories for each month as well as a fun activity idea for you to do with your child reinforcing what they are learning on Sunday.

This is an exciting time for us as we are moved into our new building, the Children’s Pavilion. We have 3 Story Seeker classes. Children are assigned to a class based on their ages. As a way to build relationships between children that will last as they go through school, the cut off date for the class is the same as the local public school districts, December 1st. We use color names for our classrooms. The Blue room is for Kindergarteners at 9:25 and the combined 3 years- K class at 11:00. The Yellow room at 9:25 is for children who will be 4 years old by 12/1/10 and are not enrolled in Kindergarten. The Red room at 9:25 is for children who will be 3 years old by 12/1/10. We promote the children to the next class on Onward Sunday in September each year.

Please feel free to contact me for more information.

All-In Time

Every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month we bring all the Story Seekers at the 9:25 service together for an all-in time. We sing, review the Bible Point & Bible Verse and introduce the story. This is a special time that children participate in during Sunday School. They are dropped off and picked up in their regular classrooms.

Parent Connect

Several times on the 1st Sunday of the month we have an event called Parent Connect. Children are dropped off in their regular classrooms but are picked up in room 104. Parents are invited to join us in room 104 to learn the Bible Point, Bible Verse and music for that month. This is always followed by a fun social time on the playground which includes donut holes!

Drop Off
Please drop off your child before going to Worship Service. You are also asked to sign in and indicate where you will be on campus. This is so if it is necessary for one of our teachers to contact you, they will know where to go.

Attendance
Please consider the positive results of consistent and regular attendance at your chosen hour so that your child can benefit from getting to know the other children and the teachers. Each of the lessons compliment each other, we don’t want your child to miss any part of them. You can also help your child have a positive experience in Story Seekers by doing your best to arrive on time each week. This will allow time for your child to get settled in the class before the lesson time begins.

Snack

Children will receive a snack of graham crackers and water each hour of class.
If your child has an allergy to this snack item, please note this on the sign-in sheet and tell one of the teachers, each time you sign your child into class.

Health & Hygiene Policy

You can help us keep these rooms and your child’s experience with us a happy and healthy one by observing the following Health Guidelines. We ask you to keep your child at home when you observe any of the following:

  • Fever/Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Discharge in or around the eyes
  • Any questionable rash
  • Green or yellow runny nose
  • Coughing
  • Communicable disease

If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be notified promptly. If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for at least 24 full hours before coming into the classroom. For your child’s protection, we ask our teachers to follow these same guidelines.

Pick Up

Please return to pick up your child promptly after the worship service has ended. This is important, as families for the next service are arriving to check in their children and our teachers need to go to worship service, classes or with their families. We want to make the transition between services as smooth as possible for each child.

You must pick up your child yourself. You must also sign out on the sheet where you signed your child into the class. For security reasons, please do not send anyone to pick-up your child who you have not designated as the pick-up person when you dropped off your child. Children will only be released to adults, not to older siblings.
